Roller Skating is one of the fastest growing sports in the world. Roller Skating Federation of India (RSFI) was established in the year 1995 and is recognized by the Government of India. The RSFI is affiliated to the Indian Olympic Association; Federation Internationale de Roller Sports (FIRS) and is one of the founder members Confederation Asian Roller Sports (CARS). FIRS is also affiliated with the International Olympic Council (IOC). The sport of Roller Skating was included in the Olympics for the first time in 1992 in the Barcelona Olympics. Roller Sports has been included in the 16th Asian Games 2010 that are being held in China. The Indian Roller Hockey Women’s Team won the Gold Medal in the last Asian Championship held in Kolkata in the year 2007 and the Men’s Team won the Bronze Medal. Roller Skating is also a medal winning sport in the National Games. Presently, India is at IInd Position at Asia level in over all categories. | |
