| TRIUMPH FOR TVIS IN CBSE SCIENCE EXPO | |
CBSE Science project titled as “Phycomitigation of CO2” under the theme “Combating Climatic Changes” done by Master R.S Abishek and Master M.Shri Aravinthan of The Velammal International School, Chennai under the guidance and supervision of Mr.S.Venkatesan., PGT in Chemistry have been selected for National Level CBSE Science Exhibition at New Delhi, after qualifying in Regional Level Competition held by CBSE at Hindu Senior Secondary School Indra Nagar, Chennai. Students of The Velammal International School impressed the judges with their well-designed algae based bio friendly solution for reducing green house effect, which in turn can reduce global warming. They have carried out an extensive work on CO2 uptake efficiency of Chlorococcum Humicola alga which is well proven in acidic effluent treatment by Vivekananda Institute of Algal Technology(VIAT) of SRI RAMAKRISHNA MISSION at Chennai. Students thanked Dr.V.Sivasubramanian, Director of VIAT for generously letting them to make use of all the research facilities in his lab. Almost 100 CBSE Schools across the South Zone have demonstrated their commendable scientific spirit with unique working models and solutions relevant to Current Global Challenges on Science and Technology in Combating Global Warming, Climatic Changes, Disaster Management, and Harnessing Energy Resources etc. Students remembered the excellent support and motivation from their Director, Mr.M.V.M.Sasikumar, Principal, Mr.K.Kothandaraman and Vice Principal, Mrs.Sunitha Rao, of The Velammal International School Chennai. The exciting journey has begun and the promising team hopes to achieve in nationals too. | |
